The cursed children at the school were massacred by someone who saw them as monsters. 

After witnessing such atrocity, Rentaro begins to have doubts. 

As Kisara reaffirms Rentaro's purpose, Monolith 32 begins to collapse, one day earlier than predicted. 

Fall of Monolith 32

Rentaro regains himself. 

Enju, who was devastated by the deaths of her new friends at the school, can only continue to fight on. 

What a depressing episode. Rentaro took his students, the cursed children, on a field trip and promised to protect them from the Gastrea. The next day, the girls were slaughtered by radicals. Then Monolith 32 falls. I should never expect to leave this show smiling. Even the preview sounds grim. 

3 more episodes to go...I wonder what happened with Monolith 32? There's still a lot of missing details that need to be filed in, and I hope the animation quality gets a little better. This episode's animation wasn't bad, but a little inconsistent. They're probably saving the budget for epic fight scenes coming up!
